Forms let you create reusable templates and collect structured data.

Concepts

Term Definition
Template The master form design with fields
Instance A filled copy of the template
Block A section/group of fields
Field Individual data input (text, date, checkbox, etc.)

Creating a Template

From a Document (Recommended)

  1. Navigate to /form_templates/new
  2. Upload a PDF or photo of your form
  3. Fields are detected automatically from the document
  4. Review and adjust fields as needed
  5. Publish the template

Quick Document Capture

  1. Open Templates and click New Template
  2. Take a photo or select from gallery
  3. Optionally edit the image (rotate, crop, adjust brightness)
  4. Click Next — text recognition and template creation happen automatically

From Scratch

  1. Navigate to /form_templates/new
  2. Skip the upload step
  3. Add blocks and fields manually
  4. Configure field types and validation

Field Types

Type Use For
Text Names, addresses, short answers
Number Quantities, amounts
Date Dates, deadlines
Checkbox Yes/No options
Select Dropdown choices
Long text Long text responses

Fields can be connected to Value Sets for autocomplete suggestions from shared reference lists.

Sharing Templates

Get a Share Link

  1. Open your template
  2. Click Share
  3. Copy the link
  4. Send to collaborators

Permissions

  • View: Can see the template
  • Fill: Can create instances
  • Edit: Can modify the template

Filling Forms

Nocarta offers three ways to fill a form instance. All three modes share the same data — you can switch freely between them without losing any entered values.

Visual mode

  1. Click on any field
  2. Type your value
  3. Move to the next field
  4. Click Save when done

Chat mode (Guided)

  1. Click Chat mode toggle
  2. Answer questions one by one
  3. Review all answers at the end
  4. Submit the form

Digital Form

  1. Click Fill with Digital Form
  2. Fill fields using smart controls (date pickers, dropdowns, checkboxes)
  3. Changes are auto-saved as you type
  4. Submit when all required fields are filled

Fill with Image

  1. Open an instance's Fill Instance card
  2. Click Fill with Image
  3. Upload a photo of a filled form
  4. Optionally enable alignment to correct rotation and tilt
  5. Nocarta reads the image and fills matching fields automatically

Collecting Responses

View all instances:

  1. Open your template
  2. Click Instances tab
  3. See all submitted responses
  4. Export to CSV if needed
